Ecotherapy for Adults
What is it?
Six session programmes of fortnightly ecotherapy days.
Who is it for?
Anyone over the age of 18 that would like support with their mental health and wellbeing, or would simply like to learn and experience ecotherapy.
What does it involve?
Over the six sessions, we will explore and experience the healing benefits of time spent in nature through a series of therapeutic nature connection activities, learning and group discussions.
The programme is designed to help you with:
Emotional resilience
Nervous system regulation and anxiety management techniques
Methods for processing difficult emotions and traumatic experiences
Developing a stronger, positive sense of self
Finding meaning and purpose in life
Developing social skills and sense of community through social contact
Cultivating a deeper sense of belonging and 'kinship' with nature
Activities will include:
Fireside chats & group sharing. Nervous system regulation techniques. Solo time in nature. Creative writing. Nature based crafts (such as whittling and basketry). Environmental art. Mindfulness and meditations. Foraging. Learning on psychotherapy, plant lore, eco-psychology. Tracking and observation skills. Optional gardening
Facilitators:
The group will be led by New Futures Academy founder & director Chris Smith and supported primarily by Leigh Smith. Both Chris & Leigh are qualified and professionally accredited psychotherapists and EMDR practitioners with many years experience in trauma informed psychotherapy.
